SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER, SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT - Advanced Applications

This position reports to the Director of Project Management (IOM Invensys, R&D Operations). The person in this position will be driving high profile, revenue generating software projects which deliver product to the marketplace. In addition to hands-on execution, this is a leadership role with broad scope and visibility.
Primary duties will include senior project management with emphasis on traditional methods and the ability to respond to revised product specifications, compressed delivery schedules, and which have a significant portion of work outsourced to 3rd party vendors.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to deliver commercial-off-the-shelf software products in a strong matrix organization. Must be comfortable with full project accountability, working with outsourcing partners, and must be able to demonstrate the ability to understand and evangelize Development’s processes and procedures.

REQUIRED SKILLS
Candidate must possess sufficient technical understanding to negotiate delivery dates with internal technical groups. Strong skills in the following are also required: estimating techniques, scheduling, risk & change management, and negotiation. This includes managing the performance of outsourcing partners according to contract and operational requirements, managing the financial performance, assessment of work suitability for outsourcing and matching potential outsource partners with work to be outsourced. Candidate must be self-motivated, pro-active, passionate and productive under pressure.
Position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills. This position requires good presentation skills, including the ability to read and capture audience attention and communicate clearly and effectively. Must have intimate knowledge of, and participated in most, if not all, of the software development life cycle.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
§ Excellent facilitation, communication & presentations skills and team player ability
§ Participate in architecting and the subsequent execution of our outsourcing/offshoring strategy
§ Demonstrated project management skills, including working with diverse teams, managing multiple projects and maintaining strong internal and external relationships
§ Experience in analyzing performance metrics, risks, and controls
§ Cost/budget management experience
§ Proven ability to interpret information gathered then develop and present (orally and in writing) sound business conclusions

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST POSSESS
§ Ability to work directly with middle to senior management as well as employees throughout the organization.
§ Minimum of seven years of progressive professional Project Management experience at a significant amount of experience evaluating and delivering projects with a significant outsourced component. Moderate experience in contract definition, including SLA's, ongoing monitoring, financial structuring, etc.
§ In depth knowledge of project management processes especially as related to governance and control of complex software projects
§ Ability to prepare project deliverables for Release to Production.
§ Abiility to Interface effectively with Quality Assurance organizations and to coordinate development schedules with testing schedules to ensure that project delivery dates are met.
